Light therapy, sometimes called phototherapy, is a way of using bright light to improve mood, energy, and sleep. It works by mimicking natural sunlight and shining a safe, specific type of light into your eyes. This light helps reset your body’s internal clock, regulates the sleep hormone melatonin, and boosts mood-related chemicals like serotonin. As a result, it can help improve energy levels during the day, support better sleep at night, and lift mood, especially during darker months.
Lumos Glasses bring this same science into a wearable, stylish form. By delivering clinically optimized light through cutting-edge lenses, Lumos helps you align your circadian rhythm naturally, so you can feel more awake, energized, and balanced wherever your day takes you.
Yes. Light therapy glasses are designed to deliver light directly to your eyes, making them more convenient than traditional light boxes that require you to be seated in front of the box for extended periods. Clinical studies have shown that consistent use can improve mood, sleep quality, and energy levels.
Lumos Glasses apply this same science with precision-engineered lenses and research-backed light technology, helping you get effective light therapy anytime, anywhere.
Light therapy works best with daily use. Most people see benefits from wearing the device for about 30 minutes each day, with noticeable improvements in mood, energy, and sleep within one to two weeks. Clinical studies have shown that consistent daily sessions lead to better and longer-lasting results.
Lumos Glasses make it effortless to stay consistent—simply wear them daily, and the Lumos App will guide your sessions for optimal duration and timing.
Light therapy is generally very safe, with no serious side effects reported. Some users may experience mild eye fatigue or headaches during the first few days—these are temporary and usually fade as your body adjusts. Using the device late in the evening, however, can interfere with sleep, so it’s best to follow recommended session times.
Lumos Glasses have been tested by TÜV SÜD in accordance with the international IEC 62471 photobiological safety standard for lamps and LEDs. The results show that the product meets the requirements for the Exempt Group, the lowest possible risk level for eye exposure. This is the same safety evaluation used for certified lamps and electronic displays worldwide.
In addition to this independent safety test, the scientists and engineers at Lumos have applied decades of research to implement further protective measures beyond the existing standards—ensuring that the glasses remain safe for everyday use while maximizing the proven benefits of light therapy.
Lumos is designed with user comfort in mind—our blue-enriched light is gentle on the eyes and optimized for daily use.
Yes—light therapy is one of the most well-supported treatments for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and low mood. Numerous clinical studies have shown significant improvements in mood and energy levels after consistent use. In double-blind clinical trials, participants using light therapy glasses showed significantly greater mood improvement and better sleep quality compared to control groups.
By regulating your circadian rhythm and activating emotion-regulation circuits in the brain, light therapy helps stabilize mood naturally. Lumos Glasses deliver light directly to the eyes, achieving these benefits efficiently and conveniently—without the bulk of traditional light boxes.
Many users notice improvements in energy, alertness, and mood within just a few days of starting light therapy. Sleep patterns typically stabilize within one to two weeks of consistent daily use. Clinical studies show that regular light exposure leads to progressive improvements, with longer daily sessions linked to stronger results.
Lumos Glasses make it easy to get consistent daily light therapy, helping you experience these benefits efficiently while fitting seamlessly into your routine.

Bright light therapy is generally safe for most people. However, caution is advised for those taking photosensitizing medications (like certain antibiotics, NSAIDs, retinoids, or St. John’s wort), people with active eye conditions (glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy), or individuals with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia, as timing and monitoring may be important.
Lumos Glasses deliver clinically optimized light and allow you to adjust session timing via the Lumos App, helping you safely and seamlessly incorporate light therapy while maximizing energy, mood, and sleep benefits. Always consult your healthcare provider if you have any concerns about medications or medical conditions.
The most effective light for regulating circadian rhythms is short-wavelength blue light, around 460–490 nm, peaking near 480 nm. This targets the melanopsin-containing retinal cells (ipRGCs) that help control melatonin production, activate mood circuits, and synchronize your internal circadian clock. The optimal intensity for light therapy is different for everyone. From research, we recommend at least enough light to suppress melatonin, which is around 250 melanopic lux, which is also supported by the WELL standard.
Lumos Glasses produces 475 nm wavelength at 500 melanopic lux (with a boost up to 1500 melanopic lux) to combine the optimal wavelength and intensity to provide the perfect biohacking tool for enhancing energy, mood, and sleep.
Lumos Glasses are designed to fit seamlessly into your daily routine. You can order a custom prescription pair—just send us your prescription and interpupillary distance (PD), and we’ll create lenses that match your vision needs. Our light-therapy coating is then applied directly onto your prescription lenses, so you get all the benefits of Lumos while seeing clearly.
